Three projects combined

For hundreds of years, Nørreport has been one of the key transport hubs of Copenhagen and an important entrance to the city.  Nørreport is now being prepared to meet future needs.

’Nynørreport’ – New Nørreport - is the collective name of the three projects which will be completed at Nørreport Station from 2011 to 2014.  The long-distance platform is to be renovated, air quality will be improved, underground concrete structures are to be renovated and finally, a new station concourse is to be created.

Implementing such drastic projects at the busiest transport hub in Denmark involves many challenges but also many advantages by completing the three projects at the same time.  That's why the three project parties – Banedanmark, DSB, the City of Copenhagen and the Danish Public Transport Authority – collaborate and coordinate in order to reduce the inconvenience to the users of Nørreport Station to a minimum.

Using the station will be a different experience for a time, and it will be noisy and dusty at times but we will do our best and complete all three projects by 2014 rather than disturbing the same place three times.

Access to the station may be changed several times in the period but the station will be kept open for bus, metro and S-train users.  Only users of the long-distance platform will have to use another station for eight months during the project.

We will strive to provide early information about traffic disturbances caused by the project.  We will post current information on this page and publish an electronic newsletter at appropriate intervals, however, only in Danish.  If you need information or answers to questions about Nørreport Station in English, please email us at kontakt@nynoerreport.dk
